Is an Overhead garage door and a Genie garage door made by the same company?
I am wanting to purchase a remote and keypad for an Overhead Garage door and looking on Ebay people are selling the same on for Overhead and Genie. Just wanting to see if they are compatiable.
Genie is a specific brand name. I have never heard the Overhead brand. Newer garage door openers can be programmed to open different openers if the codes match up. Open the back of the remote and remove the cover to the power head on the opener. There will be nine switches that you can move up or down. Duplicate the settings on the power head and remote and your in business.
overhead door is ANY door that opens by the door moving up and Overhead! Genie is a brand name of a overhead door manufacturing company

Overhead is the type of garage door opener, the Genie is the name of the company that makes them.
Look at the motor, on the frame, in your garage, the name with be on there.
Go to the company web site, I'm sure you can order what you need from there.
I think they now make universal remotes, like they have for televisions, etc. You could try Radio Shack for those.

overhead door is indeed a brand and franchise, but even if they were the same, two different Genie door openers would not even be compatible,, the industry has change so much in last ten years,, your best bet is buy the set reciever and remote for about $50
